What We Believe

I.

We believe that the scripture of the Old and New Testaments are the Word of God, and the infallible rule of religious faith and practice.

II.

We believe that there is only one true and living God; an infinite and intelligent spirit, revealed to us as the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost (Spirit), equal in every divine perfection, and executing distinct but harmonious offices in the great work of redemption.

III.

We believe that Adam was created in the image of God; but by violating the Law of his Master, he fell from his holy and happy state. Because of his apostasy all men are so affected that they are by nature sinners, are such exposed to just condemnation.

IV.

We believe that salvation is wholly of grace, and comes through the merits and meditation of the Son of God who became man that He might redeem sinners. He is the head and surety of His people. He made full provision for their salvation, so that none who hear the Gospel perish, but voluntarily reject it.

V.

We believe that regeneration is a work of the Holy Spirit within us whereby we become new creatures. There is imparted within us a new life, which manifests itself in repentance and impels the renewed man to fight against all sin. Though we strive for sanctification, it is incomplete in this life, and is carried on by the indwelling Spirit of God, and is perfected in the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ.

VI.

We believe in the doctrine of election as it is set forth in the New Testament; that God did before the foundation of the world, according to His Sovereign and righteous will, ordain the salvation of His people together with His grace; permitting others, who reject the offers of life but choose rather the ways of death to accomplish the ruin that awaits the unrepentant.

VII.

We believe that full assurance of salvation is attainable in this life, and it is the duty of all Christians to seek diligently to obtain it.

We believe that the soul of man is immortal, and that there will be a resurrection of the body, both the just and the unjust, and that all men will stand before God to be judged.

VIII.

To where a complete and final separation between the righteous and wicked will take place.

IX.

We believe that baptism is the immersion in water of a believer, in the name of the Father the Son and the Holy Ghost and is by scriptural example, a pre-requisite to participation in the Lord's Supper and membership in a Gospel Church.

X.

We believe that a Gospel Church is a Congregation of believers, baptized on profession of saving faith in Christ, associated by covenant in the faith and fellowship of the gospel, observing the ordinances of Christ, governed by His laws and laboring for the extension of His Kingdom; that its officers are Bishops or Pastors, and Deacons.

XI.

We believe that that the first day of the week is the Lord's Day, to be sacredly devoted to religious purposes and preparation for the rest that remaineth for the people of God.

XII.

We believe that Civil Government is of divine appointment for the interest of society and that magistrates are to be prayed for and conscientiously honored and obeyed; except in things opposed to the will of our Lord Jesus Christ, who is the only Lord of the Conscience and Prince of the Kings of the earth.
